Samsung HMX-104 / HMX-105 / HMX-106 Camcorder

The new Samsung HMX camcorder lineup is a set of camcorders that doesn’t rely on HDDs as storage, instead they use SSDs. The use of shockproof SSDs makes them the right choice for activities you couldn’t record with a HDD camcorder like mountainbiking.

The HMX-104 has a 16GB SSD, the HMX-105 a 32GB version and the HMX-106 a 64GB SSD. Additionally there is the Samsung HMX-100 without SSD, here you have to provide a SDHC card as storage device. While recording Full HD in fine mode you can get up to 3 hours on the HMX-104, 6 hours on the HMX-105 and 12 hours on the HMX-106.

Video is recorded is in Full (1920×1080), pictures can be taken with a resolution of 2.1 megapixels, there is a 10x optical zoom and an integrated flash. Aperture is between 1/60 up to 1/10.000 second.

Videos are coded with H.264 codec at 25FPS, audio with AAC, te battery should provide energy for about 100 minutes of recording.

There is a HDMI port, component and composite ports and of course USB to connect with a PC.

The Samsung HMX also features a “Time lapse” mode, shooting a pic every  1, 3, 5, 10, 15, or 30 seconds and saving it as a video.

Available soon the price for the SSD-lacking Samsung HMX-100 is 599 euros the 64GB SSD equipped Samsung HMX-106 comes with a price tag of 899 euros.
